I was born on August 22, 1959, in Amsterdam. I was 10 years old when my family moved to Amersfoort. I left my parental home at 18 and then lived in Hilversum, where I worked. I lived there happily for many years. I wanted something different and moved to Brussels for work, where I met the love of my life. Within three days, we moved in together, and after three months, we got married. It was 1994 then. Our work in Belgium came to an end, and we moved back to Hilversum. In 1996, our wonderful son was born, exactly on our wedding day, just two years later. We wanted to see him grow up ourselves and not hand him over to a daycare or nursery. It had to be a beautiful and clean environment.
Belgium meant so much to us and continued to attract us. We decided to buy a small campsite. That's how, 28 years ago now, we ended up in beautiful Durbuy. We sold our campsite after 5 years and started a business in holiday accommodation in the Belgian Ardennes. Sold it after 15 years to enjoy an early retirement.
I was always creative. As a child, I was always drawing. I took up ‘serious’ painting fanatically some years ago. Abstract mixed media particularly appeals to me. I can relax and become cheerful while painting. My work originates intuitively. For me, art is about freedom and the unexpected. Every work finds itself along the way.
