My Story

I was born on August 22, 1959, in Amsterdam. I was 10 years old when my family moved to Amersfoort. I left my parental home at 18 and then lived in Hilversum, where I worked. I lived there happily for many years. I wanted something different and moved to Brussels for work, where I met the love of my life. Within three days, we moved in together, and after three months, we got married. It was 1994 then. Our work in Belgium came to an end, and we moved back to Hilversum. In 1996, our wonderful son was born, exactly on our wedding day, just two years later. We wanted to see him grow up ourselves and not hand him over to a daycare or nursery. It had to be a beautiful and clean environment.

Belgium continued to draw us back. Belgium meant so much to my husband and me that we decided we wanted to go back there. We decided to buy a small campsite. We sold the campsite again after five years. Our business in mediating the rental of vacation homes in the Belgian Ardennes. We sold our two vacation homes and this business a few years ago and happily went into early retirement. All in all, 27 years ago, we settled in beautiful Durbuy in the Belgian Ardennes, where I still live with great pleasure. My husband passed away very recently.

I have always been creatively active. As a child, I was always drawing. Lace-making and mosaicking are both hobbies but are now on hold. I took up painting with enthusiasm, particularly enjoying abstract mixed media. My work arises intuitively, without preconceived plans or fixed ideas. While painting, I feel relaxed. It brings me immense joy and happiness. Each painting reflects spontaneity and cheerfulness, fueled by impulses and emotions. For me, art is about freedom and the unexpected, with each piece finding itself along the way.
